Hello…
Artist Statement
“Art is the liturgy of the one who seeks to see; the canvas, a veil pulled back to glimpse the eternal through the wonder and beauty of that which fades”
My work emerges from a devotional engagement with both the natural world and the invisible realms that hover just beyond ordinary perception. Drawing on my foundations in painting, drawing, photography, and storytelling, I approach each work as a visionary threshold—a sacramental space in which matter and spirit converse. As space that reminds us of both beauty and the fading reality of the physical world we walk in.
I am captivated by the liminal: dawn light on desert stones, the hush of abandoned chapels, the haunted hush in tree-shadowed ruins. These are places where myth, memory, and mysticism blur—thresholds where the veil thins. My creative practice seeks to reveal what is hidden, whisper what is forgotten, and illuminate the unseen with fidelity and awe.
With a gaze shaped by mysticism, ancient theology, and a lifelong study of art, I paint not just landscapes, but inner sanctuaries. I draw inspiration from prayer, the saints, mysticism, scripture and from the natural world as well as from that meeting place where the natural world and the world of the spirit meet. That place of wonder. My intention is to render beauty as a form of invocation, to allow the image to become a vessel for contemplation, encounter, and transformation.
I am devoted to creating visionary art that bridges the spiritual and the material, the seen and the unseen. Through painting, drawing, photography, and narrative, I seek to explore and document liminal spaces where the natural, the sacred, and the mysterious intersect.
My mission is threefold:
To bear witness to the mystical dimension of everyday reality—capturing numinous landscapes, sacred ruins, and the reminders of our fading existence on earth with reverence and imaginative depth.
To cultivate a contemplative visual language that draws from visionary symbolism, and personal spiritual experience, offering viewers a space for reflection, encounter, and spiritual curiosity.
To share these journeys through integrated multimedia storytelling—Seeking to entertain, inform and inspire people to pursue a connection with art and nature, to seek wonder and to deepen their spiritual life through their creativity.
Through this work, I aspire to restore the contemplative function of the image, affirming art as a medium of spiritual creativity, memory, and meaning in an age of disconnection.
Short Bio
I’m a San Antonio-based artist whose creative journey has always been deeply personal and spiritually grounded. Long before I stepped into the world of design, I was a painter at heart—drawn to the mystery of the unseen and compelled to translate inner visions into visual form.
After serving in the United States Army, I pursued my passion for painting and earned a Bachelor’s in Painting with an emphasis on Graphic Design. It was during this formative time in college that I met and married my college sweetheart, Lili. Together, we’ve built a beautiful life and are blessed with six amazing children who continue to inspire my creative and spiritual life.
For over 30 years, I’ve worked professionally as a graphic designer, illustrator, and creative director—collaborating with major agencies and institutions, including NASA, the Department of Defense, and the Department of Homeland Security. I also ran a small web design business and eventually moved into design leadership. Yet through it all, painting has remained the constant thread—the truest expression of who I am.
Today, my artistic practice is rooted in contemplative observation, spiritual inquiry, and storytelling. I explore the threshold between the visible and invisible worlds—painting sacred landscapes, meditations on mortality, and scenes that reflect a liminal space where memory, myth, and mystery converge.
My work is both devotional and exploratory: visual prayers that honor silence, reverence, and the enduring presence of the spirit world. Each painting invites the viewer to pause and step into a contemplative space—one where the soul can encounter wonder, and the unknown is welcomed rather than feared.
